            Exloo- July 26, 2023

Venue Equestrian Centre Exloo ready for the FEI Championships

From 23rd to 27th August 2023, the beautiful venue of Equestrian Centre Exloo in the Netherlands is host to two FEI Driving Championships. The organizing committee has worked very hard in the past weeks to finalize the marathon obstacles and the grounds. Let the countdown begin!

The team of Equestrian Centre Exloo recently finished constructing the last of the eight obstacles. The footing of the grass warm up arena has been very well looked after and is now in excellent condition to offer the competitors optimum circumstances to prepare for their competition. The main arena with a professional sand footing will guarantee perfect conditions under all weather circumstances.

Lieuwe Koopmans of Equestrian Centre Exloo comments: “We have been very busy in the past weeks to prepare everything for the FEI Driving Championships. The grounds are perfect now. It is our goal to make it a memorable event for both the four-in-hand competitors and the para athletes. We organize many equestrian and other events throughout the year in Exloo, but the European Championships for four-in-hands and the World Championships for para drivers is this year’s absolute highlight.”

            Special prize

‘Bartjes’ for winners ECH & WCH Driving Exloo

The winners of the dressage, marathon, cones and the combined competition of the European Championships for Four-in-Hand and the World Championships for Para Driving in Exloo can count on a nice prize of honor. All winners will receive a 'Bartje', specially designed for the Championships.

Bartje is, in addition to the dolmens, the symbol of Drenthe, the province in which this wonderful event is held. Originally, Bartje is a character from a regional novel. Bartje has become known for his legendary statement “I don’t pray for brune bon’n” (beans). The original statue of Bartje is in the Drents Archief in Assen.
